GEORGE NEWS - The Gender and Disability Sub-section of Community Development at George Municipality recently partnered with Gender Links to organise a transformative 5-day entrepreneurship training programme in Touwsranten.
This initiative brought 20 emerging female entrepreneurs together, laying the groundwork for their journey towards economic independence and sustainability.
Driven by a commitment to address gender-based violence (GBV) and foster entrepreneurship, this project offers a comprehensive approach. It combines life skills training, business development sessions, mentorship programmess, and access to financial resources. By equipping survivors of GBV with the tools and knowledge to thrive as entrepreneurs, the initiative aims to integrate women into economic development initiatives within their communities and beyond.
Ejustley Boshoff, Coordinator of Gender and Disability Subsection, said through this holistic model, George Municipality strive to empower individuals and catalyse lasting change, creating a ripple effect of economic empowerment and gender equality.
