GEORGE NEWS & VIDEO - George Municipality has experienced severe infrastructure damage following heavy rainfall on Monday 22 November which caused flash flooding.
This resulted in several pipe bursts affecting water supply to a large portion of the city. The municipality is managing this crisis.

UPDATE ON CURRENT STATUS
Water trucks remain in place and additional trucks have been added, please see list of locations at the bottom of this article.
The water situation remains critical with reservoir levels supplying the eastern and CBD areas very low.
The GEORGE Mobile JOC has been established at the site of the Oewer Street pipeburst to offer logistical support and communication services.
DURATION OF REPAIRS – Oewer Street Pipeburst:
Repairs to a 500 mm drinking water pipeburst in Oewer Street, Tweerivieren continue and although good progress is being made will not be completed by 14:00. The revised ETR is 19:00.
Technical complications, as well as the terrain being difficult, have caused unavoidable delays.
The Rooirivierrif, Barkhuizen Street suspected pipeburst has been addressed.
Replacement pipe being carried to site.
PLEASE USE WATER SPARINGLY
We have noted that certain of the outerlying areas are showing signs of loss of water and REQUEST all who do have water to please limit their use of water to ONLY necessities as our reservoirs remain critically low.

UPDATE ON WATER TRUCKS
The trucks will leave their sites to go and refill with water. Once they have refilled, they will return to their positions. The trucks will be in the different areas until 21:00 tonight.
Updated list of where water trucks are situated as follows:
1. (Denneoord area) C/O 8th Avenue and Wellington street at Multisave
2. (Denneoord area) Wallace Street at the Dennerus Old Age Home
3. (Bo Dorp) At the Spar in Wellington Street
4. (CBD) Tuinroete Agri – York Street
5. (George South) In the parking area at the Checkers Centre in York street across Eden Technical High School (old PW Botha High School)
6. (George South) at Engen Garage C/O Nelson Mandela Boulevard and Cradock street
7. (Rosemoor) Busy Corner
8. (Rosemoor) Canary street in front of the VGK Church
9. (Camphersdrift) Botanical Gardens at the top of Caledon street
10. (George East) Behind old Duggies in parking area of Prestons
11. (George Central) Caledon street in front of the George Library
12. (Dellville Park, Rosedale, Syferfontein) The truck will now move to Rosedale and stand for an hour, then to Syferfontein and back to Pacaltsdorp Superette, Dellville Park. The truck will rotate every hour
13. (Rosemoor) Attakwa Street in front of the Rosemoor Old Age Home
14. (Pacaltsdorp) the truck will now move to the Hypersave superette, then Solly’s Tavern and back to Pick ‘n Pay Beach Road, Pacaltsdorp. The truck will rotate every hour.
15. The public can also use containers to collect water at the Fire Department in Mitchell Street.

Civil Engineering Services continues to appeal to the public who are aware of or see any visible water from what appears to be a burst pipe, to urgently report to 044 8019262/6 so that we can inspect and assess as quickly as possible.
