GEORGE NEWS - George Police hosted a double farewell function when their station commander, Brigadier Phindelwa Veronica Mavakala-Ncamani, and branch commander, Colonel Sandile Victor Matiwane, ended their careers as police officers on 31 October.
Mavakala-Ncamani joined the force 31 years ago and has served in various police stations across the country including Alice, Da Gamaskop, Grahamstown, Pacaltsdorp, Hermanus and finally George.
During her time as a police officer, she was awarded with a medal for faithful service, a commemoration medal, a centenary medal and a medal for loyal service.
Matiwane served South Africa for 37 years as a police officer working at stations like Maluti, Mtontsasa, Transkei, Mqanduli, Aliwal North and George.

According to George police communications officer, Captain Nolonwabo Tshengu, the two officers were very humbled and honoured to have served South Africa for so long.
"They thanked their colleagues for contributing towards their career development. They applauded the CPF and neighbourhood watch structures for their commitment in combating crime in George. They are also very proud of the George community who supported them throughout their time here and thanked the community for trusting them and equipping them with information that enabled them to do their job.
"They are now ending their careers with pride," said Tshengu.
