GEORGE NEWS - Local police has issued two identikits today, following the rape of an 11-year-old school girl in Pacaltsdorp.
According to Captain Malcolm Pojie, Southern Cape police spokesperson, the girl was on her way to school on 3 May when the suspects, a man and a woman, forced her into a car.
"Preliminary information indicates that the went to a tuck shop whilst on her way to school at about 07:00 that morning when the suspects approached and called her to their car. She refused to get into the car. They followed her and the female occupant got out of the car, grabbed her by the hand and foot and forced her into the back of the car with a man behind the wheel. They tied her hands and covered her mouth."
Pojie says the suspects then drove towards the Pacaltsdorp industrial area, where the man allegedly raped the victim twice while the female accomplice looked on and enticed the male suspect. "They threw her out of the car after they finished and drove off. She managed to walk back to her residence in Pacaltsdorp. Initially she did not report her ordeal to her mother," says Pojie.
He says she only reported the rape to her mother a week later, after which the case was reported to the Pacaltsdorp police and handed over for investigation to the George Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS).
The only description that the victim could give at the time was that the suspects drove a blue coloured car, thought to be an older model Opel Cadet or similarly shaped car.
"The child received medical attention and our forensic social workers attached to the FCS unit worked with her and assisted the investigating officer with the general preliminary investigation into the matter," said Pojie.
"We appeal to anyone with information regarding the incident or whereabouts of the suspects to please contact Sgt Yolande Carolus of the George FCS on 044 8034621 / 083 302 7510 or Crime stop on 08600 10111."
