GEORGE NEWS - A concert celebrating the resilience of the human spirit through the timeless beauty of traditional American spirituals will be showcased on Saturday 2 November (18:30) at the Market Theatre.
Seasoned local performers Alma Oosthuizen, Lida de Villiers and Drini Botha present a powerful rendition of traditional spirituals that reflect on faith, endurance and hope.
These spirituals, born from the struggles of enslaved African Americans, express deep sorrow alongside an unshakable hope and longing for freedom.
Their messages of faith and redemption, rooted in the Christian faith, continue to resonate with believers across the world today.
With pieces like He never said a mumblin' word, Deep river, and Swing low, sweet chariot, this programme reflects themes of endurance, faith and hope, offering listeners an opportunity to reflect and be uplifted.
The songs, rooted in centuries of hardship, continue to inspire with their messages of redemption and perseverance.
