GEORGE NEWS - A toddler (3) from Thembalethu became the victim of domestic violence after he was allegedly nearly suffocated by his mother's boyfriend on Saturday 2 September.
This follows a fight between the toddler's mother and her boyfriend (32) from Zone 7.
According to information received by George Herald, the boyfriend threatened to kill the child after he had a fight with the child's mother. He allegedly also told her that if she called the police and he gets arrested, that he would come back and kill both her and her child.
It is believed that during the argument the man picked up the toddler and threw him against the wall and onto the bed.
He then proceeded to attempt to suffocate the child with a pillow. Fortunately for the little one, the police were alerted and they arrived in the nick of time.
Police allegedly had to break down the door as the suspect refused to open when they knocked. When they burst into the house the man allegedly still had the pillow over the child's face.
He was arrested on the scene and appeared in the Thembalethu Magistrate's Court on Tuesday 5 September.
At the time of going to print, no detail about his court appearance could be confirmed.
