GEORGE NEWS - A student in agriculture with an aptitude for modelling in his veins. It does not sound likely, but such are the talents of 22-year-old Mfezeko Mini, an Agricultural Management student from the Nelson Mandela University (NMU) George Campus who has landed an offer from a New York-based modelling agency.
The promising offer fell his way after Mini drew attention as a first-prize winner in the modelling division of the Talent America competition held in July in Manhattan. Mini is a first-year student.
A thrilled Mini told the George Herald, "The offer gives me a fantastic opportunity in the modelling and media industry. I am so excited. It is going to open doors for me. Although I am still regarding education as my first priority, I would also like to explore the world of arts and entertainment. I hope that people like me will get support from local business and the municipality to achieve our dreams."
Mfezeko Mini (22) scooped up a first prize in Talent America's modelling division.
Mini is part of Talent Africa, a performancing arts programme that focuses on acting, public speaking, modelling, singing and dancing. Through this programme, he was selected on the team that represented South Africa at the Talent America competition in Manhattan.
It is the American nation's longest running talent competition and has a proven record for discovering talent. It is where many of today's hottest actors and models are discovered.
Talent Africa gives talented artists an opportunity to be exposed to the entertainment world at a national and international level.
The programme helps to shape these young performers into world-class entertainers through national competitions, workshops and pageants, and international exposure at some of the most prestigious events the world has to offer.
