GEORGE NEWS - As part of contingency plans for Covid-19 being put in place at Mediclinic George, the hospital will halt all selective surgery from Friday 27 March and do emergency surgeries only.
"Although it was a difficult decision that will affect the hospital, doctors' practices and patients, we believe it is the right thing to do. In this way, we are trying to utilise scarce resources to fight the Covid-19 virus.
"We want to reassure the public that we as health care workers will work throughout the lockdown period. We thanks the public for all the calls of support , prayers and assistance that are being offered. We are realising again that it is in times like these that we are not alone and that the people of George, together with our faith, will carry us through this."
Visitors must note that in order to better manage visitor volumes, access to the hospital can only be reached through the entrance on the ground floor parking deck off Gloucester Avenue.
Visiting hours have been changed to the following:
* 15:00 – 16:00
* 19:00 – 20:00
* Strictly no more than one visitor will be allowed per bed per visiting hour in any unit.
* Surgical patients may have one individual only as support on the day of surgery.
