GEORGE NEWS - In an attempt to enhance police service delivery and to strengthen safety across the Western Cape, Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembisile Patekile, alongside Divisional Commissioner for Inspectorate Lieutenant General Peter Jacobs and deputy provincial commissioners, conferred new ranks on several senior officers on Friday 2 August.
The appointments are seen as a strategic effort to strengthen law enforcement and ensure safer communities throughout the province.
In a brief ceremony, Patekile emphasised the importance of these appointments in improving service delivery. "These appointments are in the interests of service delivery and are part of our ongoing efforts to create safer communities in the Western Cape," he said.
Brigadier AB Kriga, former station commander of Conville Police Station, will be heading up the Oudtshoorn station and former Thembalethu station commander Brigadier Khuthala Masakala will be taking charge in Gugulethu.
In the specialised unit dedicated to Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offences (FCS), Brigadier Manono Tantsi steps into the crucial role of provincial head.

Other newly appointed senior officers are:
- Major General Luyanda Damoyi – Cape Winelands District Commissioner
- Brigadier Karl Wienand – Wynberg station commander
- Brigadier Tamsanqa Tito – Mfuleni station commander
- Brigadier Brian Muller – Milnerton station commander
- Brigadier John Henry Alexander – Kraaifontein station commander
These appointments are expected to bring fresh leadership and renewed focus to key areas across the Western Cape, contributing to the ongoing efforts to tackle crime and improve public safety.
The newly promoted officers will play a crucial role in ensuring that the province's law enforcement agencies are equipped to meet the challenges of their respective communities.
