GEORGE NEWS - The George Lions handed over beautiful blankets to the Cansa Care House in George where patients from outlying towns and districts stay over while receiving treatment.
Lion Carine du Plessis crocheted the blankets during the summer and the Lions hope that it will help keep the patients warm and cosy while they undergo their treatments. Along with the blankets, the Lions also donated a range of adult colouring-in books with a few sets of pencil crayons for use by cancer patients at the house.
"Patients may spend a few days at the Cansa Care House while receiving treatment and the George Lions hope that the colouring books will help them to pass the time and take their minds off their discomfort and pain," said Pieter Nel, second vice district governor of District 410D.
The George Lions Club has in the past redecorated the rooms of the house a number of times, provided much needed freezing facilities to store perishables and installed a dishwasher in the kitchen.
"The Cansa Care House in George remains one of the favourite charities of George Lions Club where we as Lions can serve the public. Cancer is a sickness that affects all without any discrimination of age, race or gender."
