To ensure that all the work isn't left in the hands of the WRRA, residents of the Constantia Kloof Conservancy took the initiative in the spirit of the WIP and
created an attractive garden at the entrance to the conservancy - all at their own expense.
The media liaison member of the WRRA, Dr Phillip Parsons on Monday praised their efforts. "The residents of Constancia Kloof showed the rest of Wilderness it can be done. Well done to them." Parsons encouraged other residents to also make a difference.
As part of the WIP, the planters on the N2 throughout the village have been cleared of weeds and dead plant material. The clean up was initiated by Corrine Roff and her staff from The Chelsea Gardener and was made possible by a generous financial contribution from two of her clients."We look forward to replanting towards the end of February, when the weather has cooled a little," Parsons said.
The WRRA is also replacing the current car guards with trained village monitors. This is being done in cooperation with Les and Veronica Stephens of 4Front Consultants who are involved with the recruitment and training process. The company will provide subsequent training at no charge.
The Keep Wilderness Clean project will see a number of eco-friendly dustbins installed in the centre of town. These bins will make it easier for the village monitors to keep the business hub neat and tidy. The bins are manufactured locally as part of a job creation project.

Wilderness car guards will be replaced by Village Monitors.
