GEORGE NEWS - The Garden Route Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) 2024 concluded after six days of events that brought together entrepreneurs, businesses and stakeholders from across the region.
Celebrated globally in over 200 countries, this year's Garden Route GEW, launched by Suff Academy in partnership with regional and national entities, continued its mission to strengthen the local entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The theme, 'Creating Entrepreneurial Communities, Removing Barriers and Welcoming All!' underpinned the week's focus on inclusivity and collaboration.
Events equipped participants with essential tools and networks to foster innovation and long-term success.
The opening event set the tone, featuring addresses from prominent leaders emphasising the role of entrepreneurship in economic growth and job creation.
The academic symposium followed, showcasing the contributions of research and education to entrepreneurial success.
A speed networking session and masterclass on day three provided practical skills and opportunities to connect with fellow entrepreneurs.
A panel discussion hosted by the George Business Chamber further explored innovation in the region.
Day four addressed investment readiness and business law, highlighting strategies for growth and legal compliance, while day five shifted focus to the township economy, with sessions at Thembalethu Thusong Service Centre on sustainable development.
The week ended with a business breakfast, featuring keynote speaker Jeannine van Straaten, executive at Proudly South African, who inspired attendees with insights on building sustainable brands.
With over 200 entrepreneurs and key stakeholders attending the GEW 2024, the event is considered a success.
Plans for 2025 aim to build on this momentum, further supporting the entrepreneurial community of the Garden Route. For more details, visit www.suff.org.za.
