GEORGE NEWS - Life Community Services Crèche employees are calling on community members to report anyone who is seen selling a fence. This is after their fence was ripped out and stolen on Thursday 18 October from their premises at the back of Thembalethu in Zone 6.
According to Neziswa Gobisiba of the organisation, the fence was installed only two months ago. It was a donation from Heygrove farm to help prevent livestock from grazing in their vegetable garden and protect the children from harm while at the crèche.
"Our crèche is free of charge and it has been serving the community for many years, helping those who can't afford to send their kids to paying crèches. We are the lifeblood of this community.
"The community depends on us as much as we depend on them to look after the crèche. Our food garden helps the community, particularly the elderly and the sick. We also donate some of the vegetables to the community. We are very sad that thugs steal what helps the community.
"We hope that members of the community won't buy the fence and will report anyone trying to sell it. We need to unite against crime and not buy stolen goods," said Gobisiba.
Since the fence was stolen, the garden lies unprotected against livestock.
