GEORGE NEWS - The attorney who represents the suspects who stand accused of murdering Avuye Thyuthuza has withdrawn from the case.

Witson Jansen informed the Thembalethu Regional Court on Friday 28 September that he had no option but to withdraw from the case due to the allegation that he colluded with the prosecutor of the bail court. He pointed out that he was not the attorney who did the bail application.

Avuye Thyuthuza (15), a Grade 9 learner at PW Botha College, was killed not far from his home on Easter Sunday, 1 April. It is alleged that a group of boys, who call themselves Milanos, were responsible for his death.

Five boys were arrested.

According to one of Avuye's friends, who was with him on that fateful night and witnessed the incident, Avuye was murdered because the boys were jealous of his clothes.

The case was postponed to 23 October to allow the suspects to get a legal representative.

Avuye's family members are not pleased with the delays, saying the suspects are unnecessarily delaying the court case.

Last week Wednesday, 26 September, a group of people marched to the Thembalethu Magistrate's Court to demand justice for three boys who were killed in ongoing fighting between mainly high school youths in Thembalethu.

The parents of Avuye, Likhanyiso Mangale (15) and Sinovuyo Metsha (15), accompanied by relatives and members of the Uncedo Taxi Association, are against bail for the alleged child killers and want a speedy arrest of the other suspects.
