GEORGE NEWS - The families of three boys who were killed in ongoing fighting between mainly high school youths in Thembalethu want justice for their children. They want no bail for the killers of their children and a quick arrest of suspects who haven't been arrested.
The parents of Avuye Thyuthuza (15), Likhanyiso Mangale (15) and Sinovuyo Metsha (15), accompanied by other relatives, the deceased boys' friends, and Uncedo Taxi Association, marched to the Thembalethu Magistrate's Court yesterday to deliver a memorandum containing their demands.
The memorandum reads: "We are not free at all in our communities because of the youth. We urge for no bail for people who are currently in custody for crimes such as murder, robbery, housebreaking and so on. We don't want these people to be granted bail and live with us in the community."
Avuye Tyhuthuza
Avuye Thyuthuza, a Grade 9 learner at PW Botha College, was killed, allegedly by a group of boys who called themselves Milanos, not far from his home on Easter Sunday, 1 April.
According to one of his friends, who was with him on that fateful night and witnessed the incident, Avuye was murdered because of his clothes and it was an act of jealousy. Following this incident, five boys were arrested. They are still in custody and will appear in the George Regional Court in Thembalethu tomorrow, Friday 28 September.

Likhanyiso Mangali
Likhanyiso (15) was allegedly stabbed to death by a 14-year-old girl in Zone 9 in Thembalethu on 4 December 2017. Mangali was a learner at Thembalethu High School. The girl was arrested after she allegedly attacked and stabbed the boy in the chest during an argument. Likhanyiso later died at the Kuyasa Clinic in Thembalethu. The girl was arrested.

Sinovuyo Betsha
Sinovuyo Betsha (15) of Ncamazana Street was allegedly assaulted with pangas by a group of boys who robbed him of his Adidas tekkies and K-Way hoody. The incident occurred between Saturday night, 10 February and Sunday morning, 11 February, in Dick Street, Zone 9 in Thembalethu. Sinovuyo sustained serious injuries to his upper body and was taken to hospital, where he passed away on 14 February.
