York High in George is an English medium school that regularly features in the top 20 schools of the Western Cape. It welcomed the NSC examinations that started on Monday with a smile. York Matrics were especially pleased with the accounting paper they wrote on Tuesday. Moll added, "Our matrics are well-prepared and as relaxed as they can be for the coming examinations."
Kayla Scholtz told the George Herald, "Accounting was good and the paper was well-prepared. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a distinction." Kayla wants to study for a BCom degree at Stellenbosch University next year.
Gcobani Mgijima said the paper was okay and much better prepared than the September prelim paper. "It was the first time that I finished an accounting paper without a headache."
Matriculants from all over South Africa started with the NSC examinations on Monday that is expected to keep them behind the books until 29 November when they write their last subject. They wrote their first paper, English Home Language (HL) and English First Additional Language (FAL) paper 1 on Monday, which was said to be reasonable and helped to take away most of the examination fears. Accounting, Afrikaans HL and Afrikaans FAL were written on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively. On Friday matrics will be writing mathematics and mathematics literacy paper 1 and on Monday they will write the maths second paper.
