GEORGE NEWS - Eleven-year-old Andeville Magamie from Thembalethu won a competition held by Thembalethu Library during National Book Week, celebrated from 9 to 13 September.
Competitors had to write an essay about illegal dumping and add cellphone photos.
Andeville wrote a short essay about how people dump their refuse illegally and how it can be bad for their health.
Extracts from the essay read: "It is very unfair to throw papers or plastic bags full of trash near some people's houses. If your plastic (bags) are full, wait for the rubbish truck to collect the rubbish… people please make South Africa a beautiful place."
