Update
GEORGE NEWS - Emergency services had a busy weekend attending to a number of vehicle accidents in and around George.
There were no human fatalities, but a horse that was hit by a car in Beach Road in Pacaltsdorp on Saturday, died on the scene.
In two separate incidents on Friday afternoon, a car and a bakkie overturned on the notorious Pacaltsdorp-Gwaiing road.
Johan van der Merwe, Le Grand Estate manager and member of the Hansmoeskraal Forum, reported that a car left the road near Tikketai just after 15:00.
It landed in a field on the other side of two fences next to the road.
"It seemed to have ploughed through the first fence, but the second was intact, so the car must have gone right over it.
"The second fence had to be cut so that the tow-in service could get to the car. The driver was unscathed and was picking up pieces of his car."
Van der Merwe said this incident followed shortly after a Toyota bakkie had landed on its side after apparently skidding on a bend in the road.
"Another bakkie was on the scene soon after and towed it away. Law enforcement should be improved."
Many lives have been lost on this road and the Hansmoeskraal Forum has been lobbying the authorities for years to tar the surface and to implement speed control measures.
The Pacaltsdorp Police confirmed the accident with the car, but said the second incident was not reported to the police.
In an accident in the Outeniqua Pass early Saturday morning, a man from Oudtshoorn suffered light injuries when he lost control of his car around a bend after skidding on the wet road surface.
He was taken to Oudtshoorn Hospital.
A pedestrian sustained light injuries on Saturday morning when she was hit by a car in Hibernia Street.
This car landed on its side after the driver lost control on a bend in the Outeniqua Pass.
Hoekwil
On Sunday evening after 17:00, a car hit a stationary bakkie from behind at the Stop / Go sign at the road works on the Hoekwil road.
A mother and her children, a 13-year-old son and two daughters aged eight and ten, were in the bakkie.
ER24 took the two daughters to hospital to attend to light neck injuries, but they were discharged the same evening.
The female driver of the car and her baby of about six months were not injured.
