Update
GEORGE NEWS - The Electrotechnical Department of the George Municipality were addressing four cable faults that occurred almost simultaneously in the early hours of yesterday morning, Monday 15 February.
The outage affected portions of Denneoord, Bergsig, CBD, including Outeniqua High School, Pre-Cap Centre and Merriman Street.
Fault analysis was done to determine the origin of the fault.
The areas remained without electricity until the early hours of this morning. The team working on the cable faults located the faults in Denneoord and the CBD and faulty joints.
Trenching continued through the night so that a piece of new cable could be laid and jointed.
Pacaltsdorp, a large portion of Thembalethu and Hansmoeskraal have tripped on overload, due to the maintenance work that was being done.
The Municipality are experiencing problems at the substation. They apologise for the inconvenience. Switch on will take longer than initially expected.
