The first phase of the service is to commence on 8 December. The initial routes to be rolled out will be from Denneoord, Loerie Park and Rosemoor to the CBD and the Garden Route Mall.
A basic tariff of R8,50 will be charged for a trip (or trips) within a 15km radius.
This will mean that when GO GEORGE buses run on all the planned routes, a trip from the Garden Route Mall to Wilderness will cost just R8,50. At the moment the going rate in a minibus taxi is R17.
The roll out will be done in six phases and it should be completed by June next year.
Ten more standard buses were due to arrive last night (Wednesday 12 November). Altogether 31 mini buses, 25 midi buses and 39 standard buses will form the full fleet of the GO GEORGE project.
