GEORGE NEWS - In the spirit of Mandela Day, the George branch of the Garden Route SPCA (GRSPCA) is launching a special promotion to encourage pet owners to sterilise their animals.
Throughout July, the GRSPCA is providing a unique opportunity for pet owners to have their dogs and cats sterilised at a significantly reduced cost of R1 000 per dog and R750 per cat.
All proceeds from this initiative will be used to sterilise dogs and cats of people who can't afford to do so themselves.
In order for your pet to be sterilised, it has to be six months or old or older, but you can buy your voucher now and get your pet sterilised when it is the right age.
This flexibility allows owners to plan ahead and take advantage of the discounted offer while ensuring the well-being of their pets.
The urgency to address overpopulation stems from the alarming statistics on canine and feline reproduction.
A single pair of breeding dogs and their offspring can potentially produce a staggering 65 000 puppies over a span of six years. Cats have an even higher reproductive capacity. These numbers far exceed the number of available homes, resulting in countless abandoned or mistreated animals.
"The sterilisation of both male and female dogs and cats is the only way forward." By spaying and neutering pets, the GRSPCA aims to curb the overpopulation problem and mitigate the associated suffering," said GRSPCA committee member Heather Church.
To book your voucher, please phone the GRSPCA on 044 878 1990. Please note that the GRSPCA clinic is now open to all paying clients, regardless of their financial status.
In addition to sterilisation services, the clinic also offers tick and flea products for sale, catering to the diverse needs of pet owners.
