GEORGE NEWS - The cat Gingie gave true meaning to the saying that a cat has nine lives when he survived a blazing house fire in Rosemoor on Sunday morning, 3 June.
According to Salomé Bruyns, Garden Route SPCA senior inspector, Gingie is recovering well.
"His wounds are still being treated, but the worst is over." Bruyns was very pleased about the generous donations received for Gingie's treatment.
Gingie's owners call him Frozen, but he was dubbed Gingie after the incident because of his burnt appearance when he was admitted at the SPCA.
Garden Route SPCA thanked everyone on its Facebook page for their contributions.
"Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the treatment of the burned little ginger cat. He is doing very well and the staff love him to bits. His owner, who lost all of her possessions and home in the fire, is so looking forward to having him back when he is healthy again. Thank you."
Gingie sustained severe burn wounds in the fire and most of his hair and eyelashes were burnt off.
