GEORGE NEWS - Ever thought of planting an indigenous tree in the Garden Route Botanical Garden (GRBG)? Residents and visitors to the Garden Route will get this opportunity from 6 to 10 September.
Gabriella van Huyssteen, GRBG administrator, said National Arbor Week is an opportune time to call on all South Africans to plant indigenous trees as a practical and symbolic gesture of sustainable environmental management.
"We therefore encourage the public to join us and plant trees in celebration of this time. The Garden Route Botanical Garden invites anyone and everyone to join us from 6 until 10 September from 10:00 until 13:00."
The mornings will be packed with activities such as a tour of the GRBG forest, education on plantations, education on aliens as well as education for children and adults on forest ecosystems and, obviously, some tree planting. There will be no attendance fee, but donations are welcome.
