GEORGE NEWS - People Against Substance Abuse (Pasa) is launching their first annual Anti-Bullying Campaign on 12 April when schools reopen for the second term.
The campaign will run until the end of the term. During this time, schools will be visited, and talks will be presented to Grade 6 and 7 learners about all aspects of bullying.
"We would also like to give every learner a very informative booklet that they can take home so that their parents and other family members can also be empowered," says Freddy Trout, Pasa director.
Pasa is a registered non-profit and public benefit organisation, based in George and established in 2006, that has been making a real difference in the lives of thousands of learners.
The organisation's main objective is to empower the youth to dream about their futures again and to make sound choices that will be beneficial for their lives and their future. They do this through their multi-media life skills programme called "Bound".
"This is a comprehensive programme based on life skills whereby young people are empowered to deal with a changing society, equipping them with all the necessary skills needed to make sound choices," says Trout.
He appealed to individuals and businesses to assist them by sponsoring learners for this programme at only R15 per learner.
Businesses can also be issued with an 18A tax certificate for learners that they sponsor, and their business will also be advertised in the informative booklet that each learner will receive. Sponsorships of A4 copy paper are also welcome. This campaign is supported by the George Municipality.
Anyone who wishes to assist by sponsoring learners, may contact Freddy on 071 090 4450 or Wayne on 071 469 9353. Anyone who has loved ones who need help with addiction, may contact the Pasa WhatsApp line on 068 467 4848.
