GEORGE NEWS - Misty Schultz, Mrs Hope Elite Garden Route 2017, delivered 40 parcels of baby clothing and products as well as toys to mothers at the George Hospital.
Her recent announcement in the George Herald that she is running a project to help underprivileged mothers of newborn babies elicited a generous response from Georgians who came to the fore with donations.
"The support has been awesome. I am truly grateful. Rochelle Love, manageress of my Avon shop, accompanied me to the hospital to hand out the parcels. We have been able to help a lot of people. Waltons also donated stationery and furniture."
Avon has also stepped forward with a R5 000 cash donation and products worth R5 000 for mothers and children, and Justine made yet another donation.
This new round of handouts follows Schultz's outreach to women and children at Bethesda, Phambili Shelter for Battered Women and Children, Môreson Children's Home and the Child Welfare crèches in Groot-Brak, Vlinderland and Wolwedans.
"The need is huge and more toys and baby clothes and products are needed urgently. It will be greatly appreciated. Many of the babies born at George Hospital leave there with only the towel they are wrapped in," said Misty.
People who would like to donate to her outreach programme may contact her on mistyfaber@gmail.com or drop their donations off at her shop at 29 Courtenay Street from Mondays to Saturdays, 08:30 to 17:00. She can be contacted on 044 873 5046 or 076 101 5425.
Schultz will be competing in the international competition in Cape Town in January 2018 as Mrs Hope Elite Garden Route.
