GEORGE NEWS - Weather conditions and in particular a west, southwesterly wind posed a constant threat throughout the day.
This required extended use of aerial firefighting resources.
The southern fireline, in close proximity to infrastructure from west to east, required difficult and careful efforts to prevent the wildfire from getting out of control.
Ground crews of GRDM and Working on Fire (WoF) are currently busy with mopping up operations and this will continue throughout the evening by GRDMs night shift crew.
No lives lost or damage to infrastructure recorded to date.
Role players include: GRDM, George Municipality, Cape Nature, WoF Aerial and Ground Firefighting crews and SCFPA.
GRDM Emergency Call Centre: 044 805 5071.
