GEORGE NEWS - The George Covid-19 feeding scheme, that is primarily helping the community in Thembalethu, is still in need of social partners. Richard Iga, the owner of the Social Empowerment for Economic Development (Seed) in George, said they recently started a feeding scheme in Zone 6, Thembalethu, after they received a special recommendation from the United Nations Executive Committee on Economic and Social Council (Ecosoc).
Iga requested all sponsors to support this initiative. "As an organisation which had just recently received a recommendation from the UN, we have taken it upon ourselves to help the needy and underprivileged communities during this demanding time of the Covid-19 pandemic."
He said because the need is so high, they will try to help where they can, as long as support is availed by their local and business partners.
The feeding scheme started early this month but is still in need of social partners to achieve the target of helping those in need during this time.
Iga says now that they received the recommendation from the United Nations, the responsibility weighs heavier on them to transform the lives of the communities in Africa through social and economic empowerment.
"We are glad we can help and we also ask all those who can and want to donate, to please reach out."
