People were asked to donate R50 which was used to fill a hamper with goodies such as toothpaste, soap, a face cloth, biscuits, dried fruit, sweets, talcum powder and aqueous cream.
In their first year, 26 parcels were given to folks in old age homes in George who may not receive anything for Christmas, perhaps not even a visitor. In their second year, the number of hampers grew to 46, a number that was almost doubled last year when 75 parcels were delivered to residents of Genevafontein and Tuiniqua.
Lisa says, "the folks there were thrilled with their surprise parcels and left us feeling wonderful for bringing a smile to their faces. I managed to get donations from across the world through the wonderful help of friends and Facebook. People from the UK, Thailand, Cape Town, Johannesburg and of course, George, opened their hearts and pockets and donated to this wonderful cause. We will most certainly be doing it again in 2012 and look forward to reaching donations in the hundreds. Thank you to all who donated!"
