GEORGE NEWS - Constable Mpumelelo Gift Ngudwana (34) made his second appearance in the George Magistrate’s Court on Monday 31 March, when he chose to abandon his bail application.
Ngudwana, who worked as a court orderly in the very same court where he now faces charges of corruption and drug dealing, was arrested at work by the Hawks on Monday 24 March.
He was reportedly taken into custody during a sting operation shortly after having emerged from a bathroom.
The Hawks had been investigating Ngudwana since 2022 after receiving a tip-off about his activities.
He was allegedly accepting payments for smuggling drugs into the court cells for the prisoners.
During his arrest, the authorities found 11 Mandrax tablets, a packet of cannabis and R300 in suspected bribe money in his possession.
