GEORGE NEWS - The temporary wood chipper stationed at the corner of Merriman and Union Streets in George can no longer accept any additional branches or green waste after reaching full capacity.
Residents are requested not to bring any more storm-related tree material to the site until further notice.
Where to take green waste instead: Residents can take storm-related green waste and fallen tree branches directly to the George Landfill Site, which will operate on extended hours this weekend to assist with ongoing clean-up efforts.
Extended landfill operating hours:
• Saturday: 07:00 – 17:00
• Sunday: 07:00 – 13:00
Residents can also continue using the temporary chipping site at the George Road sports grounds in Blanco, where suitable green waste and tree material are still being accepted for on-site chipping.
Please note: No household refuse or building rubble will be accepted at these facilities.
George Municipality thanked residents for their continued cooperation and patience as clean-up operations continue across the municipality following the recent severe weather conditions.
