GEORGE NEWS - Now that the Oakhurst Insurance George Arts Theatre has undergone a total revamp, it is set to attract top artists from all over the country.
"This theatre, our George Society of Arts, the patrons of the theatre and all those who perform in our theatre, have the opportunity to put George on the map as a premium venue for live entertainment," said Peter Grindlay, MD of Oakhurst Insurance Company Limited, at a gala evening held on Saturday 4 November to celebrate the renovations to the theatre's auditorium.
Grindlay said, "With a top class venue for the performing arts I can see no reason why world class acts won't be lining up to showcase their talents in our very own theatre."

Lindsay Hogan and her team were complimented for the attention to detail that went into the latest renovations.
Celebrated
"This event marks the completion of a long overdue project. The George Society of the Arts are very grateful for the huge contribution from Oakhurst to accomplish this.
"Be assured that many happy hours will be spent here by actors, artists and patrons alike," said Willie van Zyl, George Society of Arts chairman.
The occasion was marked with a cocktail function in the foyer.
A performance by the Glenwood House choir, followed by two monologues performed by Eisteddfod performers Ryno Fourie and Henco Bester, were the first acts in the "new" theatre.
High praise
Deputy Mayor Gerrie Pretorius had high praise for the latest revamp and the previous one completed in 2014.
He said Oakhurst Insurance has done more for the town than any other George-based private company has done before.
"You have so lovingly restored this venue which is a facility for the benefit of the entire town to share in."
