This beautiful show was held as a matinee for the general public at the Oakhurst Insurance George Arts Theatre last Wednesday afternoon, shortly before the ballet school's year-end performance and prize giving that was held at the theatre that same evening.
For some of the pupils from Up With Down's this was their first introduction to the art of ballet.
The dancers - ranging in age from five to 35 - gave nine short performances, including a fun piece called The Pirates. Four of the pieces, Night Forest, Your Song, Pas De Quatre and Reverie, were performed last night at the Fancourt Magical World of Dance.
Altogether, 57 students successfully passed the Cecchetti exams early in November. There was one pass, 11 merits and 45 distinctions. The dance students are already preparing for next year's production of Peter Pan in October, said Abigail Geldenhuys. The performance will be directed and choreographed by Geldenhuys and Diana Townsend.
Dancers of Townsend-Geldenhuys School of Ballet created magical memories after their show, with pupils from Up With Down's.
