GEORGE NEWS - The Wilderness Art Festival last weekend was truly a wonderland of creativity, warmth, community and beauty.
Artists shared their time and knowledge throughout the work-shops, interactive performances and improvisational theatre experiences.
All the participating venues, including Anew Hotel (formerly known as the Wilderness Hotel), Fairy Knowe Backpackers and the Milkwood Village were abuzz with activity, filled with art and friendly artists eager to share insights about their work.
Each year, the festival provides a vibrant platform for more than 90 artists from across South Africa to showcase their work. This year, sales from the Night of a Thousand Drawings event raised R33 700, and the organisers extended their heartfelt thanks to the community for their support. The proceeds will benefit the Seven Passes Initiative.

This year also marked the 10th anniversary of the event, a milestone made possible by the dedicated efforts of organiser Carole Durrant and her team, as well as the support of the local business community.

A highlight of the weekend was the fashion show, during which the models graced the runway and pool area in striking outfits by local designers.
What makes the festival unique is that the entrance is free and everyone is welcome.
This openness reflects the spirit of Wilderness, a community rooted in generosity and inclusion.
The festival remains a testament to the creative talent found across the Garden Route and beyond.
