GEORGE NEWS - Dancers of the ballet performance Adventures of Alice received a well-deserved standing ovation of five minutes from their audience last Saturday evening, 22 October, at the George Arts Theatre.
This production by Abbi Geldenhuys Academy of Ballet ran for most of last week, with seven full-house performances.
The diversity of the show captivated everyone, including energetic boys who had to come watch their sisters on stage. With this production, all expectations one might have had of a ballet, have just lifted to quite another level.
"This is professional in each and every aspect," said one of the theatre goers as she left her seat, blown away by it all. "The costumes, the acting, the dancing, the leads - it was spectacular! And the little ones - oh my word, they were so cute."

With a cast of 100 dancers, ranging from four-year-olds to Grade 11s, it takes some doing.
For the gala event guests dressed in character and paraded on stage after the show for a prize. It was a jolly affair with lots of encouragement from the audience.
Geldenhuys afterwards said, "A big thank you to everyone involved in making this dream come true."
Delicious Monster provided the succulent snacks. Thanks also went to Label Leaders that organised the sponsors of the wine for the gala event, Jakkalsvlei, Raka, Alvi’s Drift and Bitou.
