SuperSport 7 will cross to New York at 3am on Sunday for the action. The Brooklyn fight card is headed by WBA and WBC super-lightweight champion Danny Garcia against New Yorker Paulie Malignaggi, who is almost as famous for his commentary as he is for his boxing.
Garcia is one of the sport’s potential superstars, unbeaten in 30 fights with a slew of big-name victories. Among his victims are Amir Khan, Lucas Matthysse and Zab Judah, although he got lucky in his last fight, squeaking a decision against Lamont Peterson.
“I laugh at it (criticism) all of the time because eight of my last 10 opponents are current or former world champions,” said Garcia. “Name a young fighter in the game who has fought eight of their last 10 fights against former or current world champions and won? I can’t name one. Or one who is 27-years-old like me?”
