GEORGE NEWS - The local dance club Rhythmical Seeds is currently the only competitively registered club for Acrobatics Dance in the Western Cape. This is a relatively new sport in the Western Cape, and the club is extremely proud to have fared so well in the Afsa (Acrobatic Federation of South Africa) Regional, Interprovincial and National Championships over three weeks in June.
The group of five George students performed extremely well, all qualifying to represent Western Province in various age groups.
Champion
Jani Gerber currently holds the national title for Afsa level 8 (15 years and above) for 2018, with a score of 9,61 at the nationals. Elouise Higgs (level 3) was placed first in Interprovincial in her age group (11 years and above). With a score of 9,45 she also qualified as one of the top 15 students in level 3 in all age groups, qualifying to compete in the national championships.
Results
In the below level 8 division, three students qualified to represent Western Province at the interprovincial championships in Gauteng, where Nicola Minnie (level 2) was placed fourth in her age group (11 years and above) with a score of 9,36. The two other students who participated were Mila Rossel (level 1) and Elishaen Smit (level 3).

In the relatively new acrobatic dance sport, an elated Elouise Higgs (right) was the winner in the interprovincial championships in her age group (11 years and above). Her proud teacher, Lizette Gerber, congratulated her.
Dance school owner and teacher Lizette Gerber said, "This is a great achievement for our students (all below level 8), who are first-year students. Their accomplishments reveal our dancers' dedication and success."
The school is preparing for the September Association of Dance and Performing Arts (ADPA) exams and for the August Eisteddfod on 17 and 18 August, when they can be seen in action at the George Arts Theatre.
Elouise Higgs was in top form as a member of the Western Province team participating in the interprovincial championships, where she came first. She was also one of the top 15 students in the national championships.
