BOXING NEWS - Rising boxing star Imange Thethani delivered a standout performance at the Sanabo Western Cape Youth and Elite Provincial Championships, securing gold and advancing to the national stage.
The 17-year-old Sobhuza Boxing Club athlete from Thembalethu impressed at the Whale Boxing Gym in Hermanus over the weekend of 1 and 2 May.
Representing the Eden region, Imange needed just one round to make her mark, winning her bout by knockout and confirming her place at the upcoming South African National Championships in July.
A Grade 11 learner of Thembalethu High School in George, Imange continues to build an exceptional record. She is now a four-time Western Cape gold medallist and has consistently earned top honours.
Her accolades include being named South Africa's best female boxer in 2023, the Western Cape's best female boxer in 2024, and receiving a bronze medal at national level the same year.
Guided by coach Amahle Malobola and managed by Nkosikho Makalima, Imange is widely regarded as one of the region's most promising young talents, combining skill, discipline and passion for the sport.
As she prepares for the national championships from 7 to 12 July, Thethani and her team have appealed for community support.
She is currently in need of essential training equipment, including boxing boots (size 4), a mouth guard, wraps, a tracksuit and training shoes.
Potential supporters can contact Makalima on 079 116 3695 for further details.
