Nel reached the turn in an outstanding 5 under par 31 before making 2 double drops on numbers 10 and 12 to give the rest of the field a chance. However, he managed to get his game back together and made another two birdies to play the back nine in 38 shots and win.
Duthie, one of the top junior players in the Southern Cape, had played steady golf to score his one under par 71.
In the nett division, young Alex van Wyk scored an excellent 84 off his 15 handicap for a nett 69 to win by 3 strokes from Christian Els, who had shot a 74 off his 3 handicap to finish 2nd with a nett 71.
