GEORGE NEWS - Kingswood Golf Estate this week hosted the Sunshine Senior Tour Pro-Am proudly sponsored by Fidelity and George Tourism.
It was a smashing success with a field of 116 golfers, both amateurs and professionals from all over South Africa.
Round 1, the Pro-Am event, took place on Wednesday 13 October with perfect weather conditions allowing the Amateurs and Pro’s an opportunity to see George at its best.
The weather turned on Thursday, giving the Pros a real challenge with hefty winds and scattered rain showers. Neil Cheetham from the UK who won the Senior PGA Club Professional Championship in 2019 and Nic Henning ex European Tour Player and multiple winner on the Sunshine Tour, were joint leaders after day one.
Day two saw a nail-biting battle till the end, but SA’s National Coach, ex European Tour Player and Kingswood’s own, Roger Wessels, kept his cool with two solid rounds of 72 and 73, to make him the 2021 Winner of the Fidelity Kingswood Classic.
Kingswood Golf Estate once again boasted with offering the players a golf course in pristine condition with spectacular greens that measured up to their reputation.
The start of this partnership with Kingswood, the Sunshine Senior Tour, Fidelity and George Tourism looks to offer great prospects for the future of golf on the Garden Route.
