SOCCER NEWS - The George Royal Academy U19 soccer team is set to soar at the Rustdene Stadium in Beaufort West this Saturday, 30 August, in the Western Cape Kay Motsepe U19 Schools Cup eliminations.
The team’s recent 1-0 victory over Plettenberg Bay’s Murray High in the regional eliminations secured their spot as regional champions, marking their second appearance at provincial level.
Coach Andrew Scott praised the team’s dedication, noting their rigorous training schedule of four weekly pitch and gym sessions.
“The boys have represented George and their communities exceptionally well,” Scott said.
The team aims to make a strong impression, flying the flag for the Eden Region.
Joining them are the U13 girls from Thembalethu Primary and U13 boys from Isalathiso Primary, both from Mossel Bay, representing SAFA Eden Region.
Other competing teams include U13 girls from SAFA Cape Town (Lwazi Primary), SAFA Overberg (Lukhanyo Primary), and SAFA West Coast (Masiphathisane Primary), among others. For the U13 boys, teams like SAFA Cape Winelands (Rietenbach Primary) and SAFA Cape Town (Deft South Primary) will vie for top spots.
In the U19 category, schools like Plumstead High (Cape Town) and Desmond Mpilo Tutu High (Cape Winelands) will challenge for supremacy.
The top two schools in each group will advance to the National Kay Motsepe Schools Cup later this year, promising a thrilling showcase of young talent.
