“I don’t think we had enough buses to park. We tried to find as many buses as we could!….I thought my players were fantastic today, we didn’t want give them space in behind, which (Keagan) Dolly and (Khama) Billiat in particular enjoy running into, we tried to neutralise them, said Larsen.
“Hlompho (Kekana) loves to play those diagonal balls, we got both of our wingers closing down those channels perfectly tonight and we had so many opportunities tonight. Another night we could have scored three or four.
Though Sundowns goalkeeper Denis Onyango kept a clean sheet during the fixture against Arrow, he was not at all pleased with the outcome of the match.
“If we start dropping points it’s not good for us. We are obviously concerned that the gap between us and the chasing pack decreased but we are focusing on us.”
Kaizer Chiefs beat SuperSport United 2-1 at the Cape Town Stadium on Saturday, goal-scorer and former Ajax CT midfielder George Maluleka pleased that AmaKhosi’s plan came together.
“It was high-intensity from the first whistle; it was very tactical and we tried to manage the game according to the coach’s instructions at half-time, and I think we executed that very well.”
Bidvest Wits beat Pretoria University 2-1 last Friday night, Clever Boys coach Gavin Hunt concerned mainly with the three points even if it wasn’t a sparkling performance.
“Once you get into single-figure games it’s about three points, for whatever you’re fighting for – relegation, top eight, to win the League – it’s about three points. But we have got to be better than that; I thought our performance was better than that to be fair. I thought we were good at times and the final ball let us down.”
Tuks coach Shaun Bartlett feels that his senior players needed to take more responsibility:
“It was disappointing in the sense that the experienced players didn’t take charge. Lack of communication, lack of concentration; those little details cost us the game, but once again the effort, I can’t fault that. We are creating more chances and, like I said before, we need to try and convert a bit more. At the back, the leadership qualities need to come to the fore as far as the experienced players go.”
Orlando Pirates lost 1-0 to Free State Stars last Wednesday and skipper Thabo Matlaba felt the pain of losing to his former team:
“We should have won the game in the first half, we created a lot of goal scoring opportunities but we did not convert them. And they (Stars) only got one chance in the second half and they scored and we cried.”
Free State Stars captain Paulus Masehe feels his players deserved every ounce of credit they got when they beat Pirates last Wednesday.
