Going into the match, Sundowns had three points nullified by the Confederation of African Football after their opponents in the first group match, E.S. Setif, were disqualified from the competition for failing to control their rowdy fans who threw missiles onto the pitch during the game.
Following CAF’s decision, group B was reduced to three teams and Sundowns’ victory over Enyimba now sees them in a good position to make it into the semifinals.
The Brazilians opened the scoring in the 43rd minute through Leonardo Castro, who tapped in a free ball in the box, from a great cross in by Keagan Dolly.
Enyimba’s Dare Ojo stunned the home side with a scorching strike from distance that beat Wayne Sandilands – levelling matters on the hour mark.
