With teams coming from all over the region to attend, it was by far the biggest event hosted by George United Football Club to date.
The games began on Friday night when the teams began to play their matches and scramble for position within their respective groups.
The group games continued on a fine and warm Saturday and one of the highlights of the group stages was a great game between Falcons and 7 Stars, with both keepers in outstanding form and the highly technical game ending in a 0-0 draw.
Ramaposa showed they meant business from the first game of the tournament, by beating Feyenoord 7-0 in a display of highly creative football and the will to keep attacking from the first to the last minute of the game.
The Cobras showed excellent fighting spirit and a never-say-die attitude, also proving just how much they have improved as a team this year by playing league champions Leopards and coming back from behind twice to stay in the game.
They were unlucky not to have got a point from the game, but the Leopards showed that bit of class and the desire to win, and scored to win the game 3-2.
The George Social Development Services organised an entertainment show at the half way point of the tournament, which included a speech from George Executive Councillor Bevin Fortuin and dancing and live musical performances from local groups and artists to celebrate Youth Day.
After the break, Oakhill from Knysna played against Firefighters from Cape Town in an exceptional match with some breathtaking football, but it was the extra strength and skill of the Cape Town Fire Fighters team that overpowered Oakhill to earn a 3-0.
On Sunday the teams moved into the knockout rounds.
With Callies football club from Port Elizabeth playing local side Tyolora Primary School from Thembalethu in the first quarter final of the championship, it was the local team who won by 2-1.
With both Cape Town sides easing their way into the semi-finals, the games were getting more important as the day went on. The two semi-finals were between Tyolora Primary and Firefighters and Ramaposa and Lucky Stars and the two Cape Town teams progressed into the final.
The plate final was a game played in good spirit between the two good sides, Rangers from George and Oakhill from Knysna and it ended up being a one-sided affair, with Rangers giving everything and winning 4-0.
The stadium was alight with anticipation as the championship final was about to begin between Firefighters and Lucky Stars, both teams coming from Cape Town. Lucky Stars lived up to their name and were lucky in opening the scoring. The final score was 3-2 to Lucky Stars making them tournament champions of the Tekkie Town u.12 Tournament.
With Lucky Stars, the newly crowned tournament champions, each player walked away with brand new boots supplied by Tekkie Town and Puma. The best player of the tournament was voted François van Rooyen (Mica) from Oakhill in Knysna who also walked away with a pair of Puma boots. The best young player title was won by Devon Jerlings (7-years-old) from the Cobras in George.
