SOCCER NEWS - Paris United is battling to improve its position on the league table as the Thembalethu-based club fights to avoid relegation from the regional league.
The team endured a challenging weekend, playing three matches and collecting just two points from a possible six.
Despite their struggles, Paris United showed resilience in their latest fixtures.
On Sunday morning, 31 May, they played out an entertaining 4-4 draw against Infantry School at Lawaaikamp Stadium.
The club currently sits second from the bottom on the league table with 27 points from 30 matches. With only a few games remaining in the season, Paris United faces an uphill battle to retain its regional league status after spending just one season in the division.
The regional league is widely regarded as one of the most competitive football competitions in South Africa, in which teams must strike a balance between experienced campaigners and young talent while also coping with the demands of regular travelling.
Paris United also earned another valuable point when they held the high-flying Oriented Birds to a goalless draw at Kwanokuthula Stadium in Plettenberg Bay.
With the season nearing its conclusion, the Thembalethu outfit will be hoping to secure positive results in their remaining fixtures to boost their survival hopes.
