GEORGE NEWS - September is Tourism Month and, with the school holidays around the corner, there is no better time to explore the incredible experiences in our area.
In fact, there are more than 70 activities identified across George. So, here’s your Tourism Month challenge: how many can you tick off before the end of September?

The Powervan George remains a favourite experience, climbing into the Outeniqua Mountains on a historic railway route with spectacular views.
Nature lovers can explore the indigenous forests of the Garden Route National Park, discover the Outeniqua Nature Reserve, or wander through the Garden Route Botanical Garden.
History enthusiasts can step back in time at the George Museum, Outeniqua Transport Museum and other heritage attractions that tell the story of the region’s rich cultural and transport history.
Golf enthusiasts find themselves in the heart of the Home of Golf Africa. The destination boasts world-class golfing experiences including Fancourt, Oubaai, Kingswood and George Golf Club, one of South Africa’s oldest courses.
Beyond the coast lies the historic charm of Herold and Uniondale.
Enjoy wine tasting and lunch at Herold Wines, discover honeybush tea tastings and protea farm tours along the Herold Meander, visit the historic Old Toll House and travel the spectacular Prince Alfred Pass.
No adventure is complete without sampling the destination’s culinary offerings. From farm stalls and eateries to coffee roasteries, breweries and fine-dining establishments, there is something to suit every taste.
