Played across George with the FNB Lawaaikamp Stadium as the main venue, the tournament was opened by 24 teams playing a knockout format. Dangerous Darkies FC were the overall tournament winners for this division.
On Sunday, 11 September, the legends tournament was played in four nations format with Fellows, Young Blues, IX Experience and Black Cats participating. The skills these legends possessed in their earlier days of playing resurfaced to support their legendary status.
The legends of IX Experience and Fellows were the first teams to entertain the crowed with skill and flair.
The second match saw the legends of Black Cats and Young Blues face-off and provide much entertainment, with especially the goalkeepers’ skills teaching today’s young stars a thing or two.
Black Cats FC were the eventual winners of the Legends division.
The Total Football Tournament was highly entertaining and it is hoped that a similar legends tournament will take place soon, as these players still have so much to offer.
The tournament is the brainchild of local TOTAL dealers Piet Gelderblom (Sandkraal Road), Albert Neizel (Courtenay Street) and Eugene Londt (Pacaltsdorp), who are concerned about the lack of youth involvement in sport in the area.
They see this initiative as an excellent platform for future soccer stars to showcase their talents and be recognised for their skills, giving them something valuable and rewarding to do with their time. They hope that the tournament will bring diverse people together, providing a recreational activity for the George and Eden community.
The George Local Football Association thanks TOTAL for their sponsorship and contribution to the development of football in George and Eden.

The Black Cats FC Legends team won the Legend Division.
