The Western Cape High Court had reviewed and set aside plans that would have enabled Sanral to go ahead with tolling sections of the N1 and N2 in the Winelands region.
The company had appealed a High Court ruling handed down in August. The City of Cape Town is fighting attempts to toll the Winelands route.
The City of Cape Town’s Brett Herron says they are pleased with today’s ruling.
“This is good news for the City of Cape Town, for our economy, for our residents because it prevents Sanral from imposing on us an illegal toll road system that would have devastated our economy.”
The municipality has argued that tolling would affect the poor the most.
