NATIONAL NEWS - CapeNature is delighted to announce a price freeze on entrance fees, camping, hiking and accommodation tariffs until 31 August 2020.
This means that visitors get to spend quality time at their reserves, hiking, camping under the stars, and glamping in luxury, safari-style tents and modern and luxury self-catered eco-cabins at 2018 rates.
Despite the inflation rate increases and the current recession in South Africa, CapeNature wants to see an increased number of local visitors explore and experience the rich natural heritage exclusive to the province.
Anton Bredell, the Minister of Local Government, Environmental Affairs and Development Planning in the Western Cape applauded the initiative."This is another effort by CapeNature to keep its holiday destinations affordable and accessible so that as many households as possible can enjoy spending time in nature. I want to urge people to make use of this offer."
Income generated by CapeNature is ploughed back into the work it does in conserving the province's natural heritage for the benefit of future generations.
The province is home to several protected areas which require substantial funding for efforts such as fire management, invasive alien plant clearing and the upkeep of mountain rainfall catchments to supply clean, healthy drinking water.
CapeNature's Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Razeena Omar, re-iterated the entity's intention to make access to protected areas as affordable as possible: "We recognise that in these trying economic times, families are looking for holiday getaways that are authentic and affordable.
"The price freeze on our tourism offerings will not only allow more people to visit CapeNature reserves but also enable them to extend their stays at value for money rates while enjoying a range of diverse accommodation offerings."
CapeNature's reserves in the Southern Cape include De Hoop, Boosmansbos, Grootvadersbosch, Outeniqua, Goukamma, Keurbooms, Robberg, Gamkaberg and Swartberg.
