29 year old Ulrich Cloete had been on the run from police on an attempted murder charge since 2004.
Police spokesperson, Lieutenant S.F. Kock says police followed up on information and arrested Cloete at a house in Upington on Tuesday.
He says Cloete had first appeared in the town's Magistrate’s Court on a charge of attempted murder, after he allegedly stabbed an adult male in 2004.
He was released on bail, but failed to attend his next court appearance and a warrant of arrest was issued.
Cloete will appear in the Upington Magistrate’s Court soon.
