Sporting a double cab body configuration with shaved door handles, a wraparound taillight arrangement similar to the T-Cross, wheels seemingly taken from the Atlas Tanoak Concept and an apparent bluff front end derived from the Atlas, the yet-as-unnamed concept will ride on the Volkswagen Group’s MQB A0 platform that also underpins the Polo, with the Wolfsburg automaker touting it as a “new, urban-oriented vehicle” that combines the “features of a SUV [with] the versatility of a consistently well-thought-out pickup”.
While it remains unknown as to how the newcomer will stand in relation to the current generation Saveiro that has been on sale in South America since 2009, the pick-up will have four-wheel drive and slot in below the Amarok. More crucially though is that it has been classified as a world model, effectively opening the door for right-hand drive production and therefore a likely candidate for South Africa.
